Accessibility Statement for Arts Haven Studio

Arts Haven Studio is committed to making its website, www.artshavenstudio.com, accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. We want every visitor to be able to experience our digital content, products, and services regardless of their physical, sensory, cognitive, or technological limitations.

Our Accessibility Commitment

We believe in equal access to digital content. This means making reasonable efforts to ensure that individuals who use screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technologies can interact with our website without unnecessary barriers.

Our commitment includes meeting or exceeding the standards set out by the following laws and guidelines:

  • Equality Act 2010 – which requires organisations to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to ensure disabled people are not disadvantaged
  • UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 – where accessibility intersects with personal data and information rights
  • Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (where applicable)
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA – the internationally recognised benchmark for accessibility best practices
  • BS 8878 (British Standard for Web Accessibility) – followed voluntarily as a code of good practice

Accessibility Features of Our Website

To ensure the site is usable for as many people as possible, we have implemented the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML5 markup with ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) roles and landmarks where appropriate
  • High-contrast text-to-background ratios to improve readability for low-vision users
  • Responsive layout for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and interactive components (menus, buttons, forms)
  • Descriptive and unique page titles and heading structures to assist screen reader navigation
  • Alt text on all non-decorative images
  • Transcripts or captions provided for video and audio content wherever possible
  • Accessible forms with visible labels, clear instructions, and appropriate error messages
  • No auto-play media or flashing elements that could affect users with epilepsy or sensory sensitivities
  • Support for browser zoom up to 400% without loss of content or functionality

Ongoing Improvements and Monitoring

Accessibility is a continuous commitment. We conduct periodic accessibility testing, both manually and through automated tools (such as WAVE, AXE, and Lighthouse), and integrate accessibility audits into our regular website maintenance and redesign cycles.

We are currently working towards full conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA and intend to begin monitoring future compliance with WCAG 2.2 upon release. In-house staff and external consultants are engaged in ensuring compliance is maintained and improved.

Limitations and Areas for Future Improvement

While we strive to make all areas of the site fully accessible, some elements are currently known to fall short of optimal accessibility. These include:

  • PDF or downloadable documents not always fully tagged for accessibility
  • Third-party plugins or embedded media (e.g. Instagram, YouTube) which may not fully conform to WCAG guidelines
  • Occasional inconsistencies in contrast or heading structure, which are being reviewed
  • Lack of keyboard focus indicators in some interactive elements on older devices (fixes are underway)

We are working hard to resolve these issues. In the meantime, we encourage users who experience difficulties to contact us so we can provide an alternative method of access or support.

Alternative Formats

We aim to provide content in multiple accessible formats upon request. If you need a document or resource on our site in large print, audio, plain text, braille, or another accessible format, please contact us using the detai
